Tolman received praise for her portrayal of Minnesota Police Officer Molly Solverson. Vanity Fair said that Tolman "calmly and assuredly stole" the film. She won the Critics' Choice Television Award as Best Supporting Actress in a Film/Miniseries and was also nominated for Best Actress at both the Emmy Awards & Golden Globes for her role.
